Im curious about my reaches:
princeton stanford ucb northwestern
What major? And can you afford these ? If not from CA, UCB will be near $80K just for tuition, room and board.
Are you a US citizen and student in the US or an international student?
Certainly your qualifications are great. The SAT might be a little light but not overly light for these schools.
Like Stanford, the 25th percent for writing is 740 and the composite is a 1500.
So if you are US based, your odds are probably average - and they have single digit acceptance rates.
If International, likely lower.
So all are high reaches for everyone - but they are accepting some people and other than your SAT score (which is exceptional by the way, just not for these schools), you’ve done all you can.
I wish you luck.
PS - Berkeley won’t see your SAT. And it’s an odd add on with that list - as a huge public.
Based on the content of your thread-starting post, I would encourage you to develop a more realistic list of reach schools.
As a side-note: Consider presenting your accomplishments and qualifications in a more readable fashion–try to use bullet-points and paragraphs.
Also, it would be helpful to know your intended major.
Do you intend to study music/violin in college ?
If you intend to apply for need based financial aid, the chances of admission become even more difficult for international applicants at most US colleges & universities.
Your profile is great and your SAT puts you in the top 2% of all test-takers, and it likely won’t be enough for those schools. Getting into Princeton, Stanford & NW is just exceedingly difficult. UCB is a test-optional roll of the dice. I encourage you to still apply, because you never know, but you need some less selective schools in the mix. I would offer you the same advice if your SAT score was 1550. It is that difficult.
You have a strong background but must understand that the schools you listed are all major reaches for any unhooked applicant – even more so if you are an international student. If you are serious about attending college in the US I suggest you expand your application list. As an aside, if you require financial aid I fully expect UCB will be unaffordable.
UC Berkeley is test blind not Test Optional so SAT scores are not considered for admissions or scholarship consideration only for course placement. Since it is a California public university it will also not offer financial aid to Non-residents.
hi, i have i just put the best schools i’ve applied to as i was curious about these I’ve applied to manyy more realistic ones. and sorry for the messy structure.
They’re not necessarily the best and don’t forget that. Where you end up might be the best.
Hey are the most selective and perhaps the best known. That doesn’t necessarily make them best.
oh wait wrong reply

Are you an international student with respect to US universities? (i.e. are you not a US citizen or US permanent resident?)
If you are currently living in the US, what state?
Budget and financial aid situation?
Hi, Im not a U.S Citizen, I reside in Palestine as of rn.
I expect partial financial aid but most of the uni’s i’ve listed should be need blind
I’m not sure what you want anyone to say. The schools listed are all huge reaches for any unhooked applicant – even more so for an international student.
UCLA will not be affordable if you need aid.
Have you used the net price calculator on each university’s web site to get an estimate for financial aid?
UCLA generally does not offer financial aid to non-California residents.
Yeah the finance situation is clear and I kinda regret applying to UCLA for that reason. Do you think theres a chance of being accepted to one of these though
