So, I did one of these recently but wasn’t very specific or knowledgeable. Now that I know a little bit more about the site, I’ve decided to give it another shot :slight_smile: Princeton, UCs, and UMich are pretty much crapshoots that I’m waiting to get berated for even considering, but bear with me please.

SAT I Total: 2330 (First attempt)
SAT I Math: 800
SAT I Critical Reading: 760
SAT I Writing: 770

Extracurricular Info

  • Founded conservation club that works to protect the environment (President 3 years).
    *Fundraised $1,350, allowing us to adopt and protect over 2,000 acres of environmentally endangered regions in Africa.
  • Engineering Team Sub-Team Captain - we qualified for World Championships and I have over 30 hours of com service from it.
    -Academic Team Varsity and 2 State Championships
    -Science League 2 years
    -Lit Mag 2 years

Another thing:
Published in Black Warrior Review as one of the youngest authors, but it was only a short story. I wrote a book and am in the process of publishing through a Lit Agent. However, I’m still sending other query letters out.

Also:
I don’t think it matters but I’m going to say it anyway: I had sever, clinical depression for a period of 3 years. It was so bad that I would either sleep 45 mins a day, or 13 hours and still feel exhausted and never hungry. I was on medication for one year before I decided to cut it clean.

Can you afford your OOS publics? Michigan and the UCs are extremely expensive for nonresidents.

That 3.6 is not competitive for most of the UCs. Your SAT looks good. ECs look good.

Sorry to hear of your struggle with depression. It can be debilitating. Unfortunately, your gpa is too low Princeton and most of the UCs. These schools receive so many applications from kids with perfect academics they don’t have to risk taking kids who may or may not have resolved their medical issues.

Yeah, unfortunately GPA is not good enough for many of those schools.
