I would take the time and energy to be certain your essays are much better than average and hopefully your recommendations will be better than average as well. Every single aspect of your application will be important.
Your stats are great, but every time I see the word qualifier (somebody else won/placed) I wince, even at the national level it says “also ran”…so hopefully your essays make you stand out.
For most of the national comps I qualified for, I didn’t actually attend the competition (because of the cost or other activities on the same dates). Is there a way to indicate that on the common app, so that it doesn’t seem like I lost every time?
@layirp nice work, good scores / rigor. Agree essays and LoRs will be critical. If lower SES, school counselor can note that in their submission, vs. explaining in your precious essay space. If not SES, you made a choice not to attend for other activities, so talk about those!
Princeton is hard for everyone, but you have done the hard work to be noticed, now wow them with who you are, how you have changed your community for the better and what you will bring to Princeton.
