Chance me! (Rice, Cornell, Vanderbilt, etc.)

Please chance me for Rice, Cornell, Swarthmore, Fordham, Northeastern, Vanderbilt, Johns Hopkins, UPenn, Brown, Dartmouth, and Cornell.

Decisions: 5 received, 4 acceptances
Accepted: UMBC Honors, Purdue Honors, NJIT Honors, Arcadia
Rejected: Stanford REA

Interviews:
Rice (10/10): The alumna loved me, we spoke well together. She said I’m a strong candidate and she’d put in a great word.
Cornell (8/10): She was a graduate from my high school but the conversation wasn’t fluent. I was told I’d get a good recommendation but it wasn’t as good as Rice.
Vanderbilt (9/10): Said he’d put in a good word
Johns Hopkins (10/10): Absolutely flawless

Intended major: Mathematics (I applied to the school of Arts and Sciences for all the schools above except for Rice, where I applied under the school of Natural Sciences)
Major 1: Mathematics
Major 2: Chemical Engineering

AP Classes/Tests: Chemistry LAB (4), Physics 1 LAB, Physics C LAB, Calculus AB LAB, World History
SATs: 1410/1600 (770 in Math, 640 in Reading and Writing)
Subject Tests: 710 in Math 1, 640 in Chemistry

Essays:
Common App (7/10): It was well written but extremely generic. I wrote about how I self taught myself a multivariable calculus course and how my experiences made me mature and prepared me for college, there wasn’t anything extremely personal
Supplements (7/10): Put little effort in them, again, very generic. I spewed out essays that won’t hurt me at all but won’t stand out

Recommendations:
AP Physics Teacher (10/10): I read it, he basically talks about how I overcame a personal struggle freshman year to reach above and beyond. He spoke very highly of me.
AP World Teacher (9/10): Might’ve been a bit generic, but she spoke very highly of me again and said I deserve to go to any institution
Other (7/10): It was about a paragraph in length, it wasn’t amazing. Just spoke about how I take initiative

Have you taken multiple SATs? Many of your schools superscore.

I think you’ll get into Fordham, but I think you know most of the other ones could go either way. Your gpa may be kind of low for a lot of those schools, and your sat ideally would be higher, though you’re in a good place with it. Your ECs seem pretty good, and your race will help you at some of those colleges. Good luck, I think you’ll get into at least a few of these schools!

Nope, I just took the SAT once and thanks!

Extra-curriculars alright, I’d say good shot at getting in 2 or 3 of these including Fordham. You should apply to some safeties though, maybe BU if you’re interested in the Mid Atlantic schools.

Thanks!

Northeastern and Fordham. Goodluck.

do you think i can get into one or two of the other schools specifically rice? sort of my dream school
