sat: 1570 (780 reading 790 math)

coursework: ap chem, ap bio (5 on exam), ap psych, ap calc bc

awards: scioly w/ state/national awards, science fair state awards (grand award, so top 10 out of ~400, and best in category), all state orchestra

ecs:

started a club (we’ve donated hundreds of items to local charities, purpose of the club is to “mobilize students against problems in the community while remaining conscientious to their many responsibilities”)––merged this club with hosa tihs year

science fair: made a laboratory in a bathroom and learned how to take care of fruit flies to conduct an experiment

hosa president, beta club vp

internship at a UC lab for five weeks last summer––got lab experience/did a research project

ive initiated 2 research projects independently and one in the aforementioned internship

no cs knowledge

and i interned at a local family practice

Congratulations on your accomplishments! You are a competitive applicant but, as I’m sure you know, getting accepted to RSI is difficult.
Your competition will be equally accomplished.

Choose your recommenders wisely. People who are likely to say you are on the cusp of greatness. I exaggerate but glowing letters are needed here. Allow plenty of time to draft and revise your short answers and essays. Solicit feedback from a teacher or other trusted source. Best of luck to you!

Everything mountainsoul mentioned + write your essays showing your passion in science field you chose to apply for. My son was in RSI 2023 and he felt strongly that his essays helped him getting in.
