varsity soccer-3yrs (nationally ranked #1)
club soccer- nationally ranked 35, region ranked 7, state ranked 2
Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra (violin)
Cremona Ensemble (raise money for underprivileged kids to buy instruments)
Tae Kwon Do- national qualifier for junior olympics/2nd degree blackbelt

Habitat for Humanity- treasurer
Plano Volunteering Org- volunteer with special needs kids
Tae Kwon Do instructor (10 hrs/wk during summer)

Your stats are great, but not the “stellar” kind that you find in the Ivies. I’d say Princeton’s a reach / slight reach. Also, your ECs focus more on non-academic-related things. The deciding factor in your app would probably be your essays and recommendations.

thanks…I didn’t really know that playing soccer and violin would hurt my app seeing as soccer takes about 26 hours a week as well as all my summers. My essays were ok I think…one about my brother, one about my first Tae Kwon Do tournie, volunteering with an autistic kid, one about my ensemble that raises money for kids to buy instruments…i am also not wealthy and applied for aid from princeton…thanks for feedback!

Well, I don’t think it’d “hurt” your chances – it does show characteristics about you, especially the nationally ranked bit, so that is kinda hook-ish. I just noticed that many of those admitted had more academic ECs.

With a 9% acceptance rate…it’s impossible to predict. SAT-wise, 2100 2200 2300 get in while some 2400 get rejected. Valedictorians regularly get rejected. It’s just that sort of school O.o
