Applying to: Undecided DUS University Park Spring 2019
Applied: Mid-September, if that matters for rolling admissions
High School GPA: 3.7/4.0W
SAT: 1200 (550 M 650 CR) yes, I do know this is low for UP, however I am already a freshman in college and I don’t think taking it again will benefit me in any way…
Honors/APs: 11 Honors/1 AP throughout 4 years in high school
In-State
Extra Curricular: National Honor Society Member, SADD Club Secretary (Similar to D.A.R.E), Ski Club, Student Council, 4 year varsity athlete.
Wrote my essay about Mini-THON held at my school.
Also heard mixed opinions about applying Spring semester? Some say less competitive due to lack of students applying for spring, others say more competitive due to less open seats in freshman class.
If accepted, what are my options for on campus housing? Would I have a higher chance of being thrown into supplemental housing due to starting so late in the year?
Sorry, I don’t know how to assess for spring. With your GPA you should be fine for DUS, but you don’t have the summer session to fall back on. If you don’t get in, try applying for the following fall with summer as a backup.
You will most likely be in supplemental housing if they admit more people for spring than drop out. But lots don’t come back also so that’s really a guessing game.
As a transfer, they will likely want to see your college grades from first semester before making a final decision.
@jlhpsu they said I would be considered a second semester freshman because they only requested my high school SRAR and college course list just to prove I took classes here. It says the on their website that I will be notified of my decision by mid-December at the latest so I’m not sure that they will ask for my first semester grades if I won’t have them officially until December
