Chance Me! (T-20s Econ/Business schools) [NY resident, 3.8 GPA, <$1k]

NY is a big state and therefore a lot of kids face what you are describing.

Fortunately, it looks as though the OP lives in or near NYC where the public transportation is excellent so living at home and commuting seems like a workable option.

Absolutely! CUNY colleges are a wonderful deal with many quality opportunities. AND the fees at CCNY, for example, are only about $500 per year, not $3000+.

The only other factor to be aware of regarding Excelsior is that it is a “last dollar” program, meaning that it covers only the remaining cost of tuition after other scholarships and grants are counted, including Pell grants, making it even less of a good deal even at CUNY schools.

Does this mean you haven’t actually taken the real SAT yet…you just did a practice test?

Baruch is a great business school regardless of money. You won’t beat their tuition and you have free housing! Apply for Macaulay Honors because that is your best chance at meeting budget. The Honors program works with any of the CUNY schools.

You should take a full length official ACT practice test and let us know how you do. You may find it easier than the SAT.

The really…chancing you on projected SAT scores is just guessing. Please come back here with your actual scores, and actual courses for the rest of HS.

And really…just do your personal best! There will be many colleges where you will be a welcome student.

And remember to have first, and foremost, a college where you have a strong chance of acceptance, that you like, and that is affordable. Start there.

Adding…the UCs will not grant you aid as an OOS student.

And most of the OOS publics on your list won’t be affordable either.

Glad to see Bing on your list…but how will you pay the total cost of attendance?

Babson College, a business school which was ranked #2 by the Wall Street Journal on its list of best colleges in America, offers several full tuition scholarships. The Diversity Leadership Award is one of them and it is specifically directed toward promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion. With your list of extracurriculars, it is worth looking into. Babson is also committed to meeting 100%of need and is test optional.
