You would need an absolutely incredible hook or essay to get into NYU. Your credentials are good, but NYU is very selective. I just don’t see how someone with a 1590 SAT I and a 3.3 weighted GPA can get in without something really going for them elsewhere. As snoopydog1 pointed out, your ECs seem to all be from 12th grade, which might give the impression that you jumped on the wagon just in time for college admissions.

My suggestion is that if you really want to give it a shot, you’ll have to do the following:
Try to get as high of a GPA this year as you can. If you could aim for a 3.8+, it would do wonders.
Retake the SAT I. The 25% percentile for NYU is something in the late 1800/early 1900s. It’s a huge increase over your original score, but you want to aim there.
Write an absolutely brilliant college essay. You will be dead in the water with the run of the normal essay.

Good luck! I hope everything works out for you.

The truth is that I did jump in the wagon because i wasn’t college conscious until this year so yeah. Um my school is an unranked high school in the Caribbean so that doesn’t help me, and yes I’m already retaking my sat I this January which is too late for regular admissions i guess, lol.

Ok wow is it really possible for me to raise my gpa that high senior year? i don’t really know, regardless ill maximize my GPA as much as possible.
I plan on getting 2000 plus, I’ve been practicing with Princeton Review “Cracking the SAT”
It’s been kinda helpful,ha. My essay does need work you’re right i have to get right on that, thanks a bunch you guys.

I didn’t mean your overall GPA. That would be unreasonable. I meant senior year, but it really depends on how well you’ve done so far. I see a lot of people get into NYU that started out with low GPAs but showed a major progression in their study and work habits to get their GPAs up there.

Glad to hear about your SATs I. Anything above 1850 will help your chances enormously.

I am doubtful they don’t look at January scores. The other drawback is that you might get reviewed later than people who dropped in all their stuff on the deadline.

As I said, Pollorojo, good luck! Don’t let a name, number or school represent who you are. You make what you are of yourself. Whatever school you go to (including NYU), that is what was meant to be. :P

So yeah, 3.3 was my cumulative GPA, I’m guessing i wont be able to raise that more than 3.5-3.6 about. My grades have remained fairly constant 9-11th grades so i guess the major improvement hook wont workout for me lol.

Ok they do consider January SAT? Awesome there’s still hope for me left, i mean if they consider SAT highly on your application.

You’re right also, i should focus on what im doing not where im going, ill keep that philosophy in mind (but still you have to admit getting into Harvard and other prestigious schools are still pretty kool rite?)
