Chance me to Dartmouth ED?

<p>I’m a Junior, middle-class white male. I go to a private, independent school in Missouri that does not rank its students. My school sends several of its graduates to top schools. I want to be one of those graduates. I’m doing ED at Dartmouth.</p>

<p>GPA:
9th, 10th, & 11th grade GPA: 3.9
10th & 11th grade GPA: 4.0</p>

<p>AP CLASSES:
Junior Year: AP English Lang, AP US History (2)
Senior Year: AP English Lit, AP Government, AP Statistics, AP Biology, AP Chemistry, AP Spanish Lang, AP Microeconomics (7)</p>

<p>SAT:
2210 (CR: 740, Math: 730, Writing: 740)</p>

<p>SAT II:

  • Math II: 750
  • Literature: 700
  • Physics: 740</p>

I worked part-time at a Canoe Rental and Campground the summer before my Freshman year. I saved the money and spent it on my first car.</p>

<p>HONORS/AWARDS:

  • Rookie of the Year, Tennis (10th Grade)
  • Highest GPA (11th Grade)
  • 3rd Place Disrtict Art Show</p>

<p>I know this is pretty feeble compared to the other amazing Dartmouth applicants. I would appreciate your input/criticism/advice though</p>

<p>It’s a toss up. I wish your scores were a bit higher, but they’re definitely not going to keep you out.</p>

<p>It’s probably going to come down to your essays and letters of recommendation, to be honest with you.</p>

<p>What score would I need to make my score helpful to my application, not just acceptable?
I mean, when you say you wish my scores were higher, what score specifically did you have in mind? Thanks!</p>

<p>2210 is definitely in the Dartmouth admitted students range. For a score that really helps you, 2300+ is always good. If you apply ED, I honestly think you don’t have too much to worry about. Just make sure your friend doesn’t joke around too much on the peer recommendation.</p>

<p>He’s definitely not a guarantee – or close to one – even if he applies ED…</p>

<p>Spencer, you’ve got a shot, but I’d expect a deferral.</p>

<p>Test scores are within range; as is the GPA. Write good essays and you should at least get a deferral and at best… :D</p>

<p>forget about the writing section, its more important that you get a 1500 out of 1600 on math and CR. looks like one more test for you should do the trick…oh and no set of scores is actually helpful, everyone applying there has high scores, you just need to have high ones as well to compete. your strength or “hook” for admissions is your amazing EC’s, you should market yourself as an all around person. you definitely have a chance…i’d say a deferral and the admit. But not a definite…if you don’t apply ED your chances only get worse.</p>

<p>Thanks for the advice. About my EC’s, does it hurt me that, since I’ve switched schools twice, I haven’t been in any EC more than 2 years?</p>

<p>3 weeks ago you were planning to apply to Cornell ED and had a 2050 SAT. How quickly things change…</p>

<p>That was my estimated SAT based on my practice tests.
The score on this thread is what I actually got in June.
Oh and I’m still weighing my options about where to apply ED.

<p>I actually just made my schedule for next year and I’m taking both Calc and Stats. But do they really prefer Calc over Stats?</p>

<p>Yes, DEFINITELY. AP Calculus is very highly regarded everywhere, while as AP Statistics isn’t. I however found the Stat exam MUCH harder…:P</p>

I’d just do something on the safe side if I were you probably like an internship?</p>
