I am planning to apply EA to UChicago and ED to Dartmouth or Northwestern. Would I have a shot of being accepted into any of these schools?
If you go to a selective, well known prep school, you likely have access to good guidance counselors at your school. Those counselors will be able to give you the most accurate information because they will know how the various colleges view students from your school, what the acceptance history of various students from your school has been, how you compare to others that are applying and what your particular strengths and weaknesses are. Go talk to your guidance counselors and get their input.
For those schools, your GPA is very low, which is a concern. Your ACT is also on the lower end for all of those schools, however, you do have strong SAT 2 scores. Your ECs are fine, but I would be concerned the most with your GPA. That is the weakest link, and it’d be tough getting into those schools with it. These schools are reaches for even the most qualified kids, so don’t get too caught up in them. You do have shot, but I suggest having back-ups ready.
You have a shot. I would ED to Northwestern because they really value course rigor over grades, and that’s good for you, also your ACT is in range for Northwestern ED.
