Chance Me - Transfer

I am currently a freshman at Umass Amherst majoring in Mech E wanting to transfer out and am in the following situation. I have the conditional transfer to GaTech and have planned out to take all required courses to guarantee admission there. My paranoid self would like to make sure I have other options, however, so how competitive is the following stats given schools like Cornell, Rice, UVA, Carnegie Mellon, Vanderbilt. Do I even bother applying to these schools given my admission to Gatech?

Why do you want to transfer out of U.Mass Amherst?

U.Mass Amherst is a very good university with a very good ME program. It is ABET accredited. You can do very well with a degree in ME from U.Mass.
