Chance me? Triple citizen interested in IR!

Hi! I’d like to know your opinion on my chances of getting into the schools I’m applying to. I’m a Canadian student (triple citizenship, Canadian/British/Irish) going into Grade 12 next year.

Gender: Female
Intended Major: International Relations
Other information: I’m bilingual, English and French, with a good grasp of reading and writing in Latin (taken the full 3 year Latin course).

ACT: 26 without studying in October, taking the test again next Saturday, expecting a 30. (I know it’s a little low for the Ivies, but what can you do…)

Rank: My school (a top private school in Canada) doesn’t rank students.

GPA: 3.98, unweighted (my school doesn’t offer APs in the Humanities or English).

Extracurriculars at time of graduation:

  • Debate, 4 years.
  • Mock Trial, 1 year (club was cancelled).
  • Choir, 2 years.
  • Field Hockey, 2 years.
  • Founding member of LGBTQ+ Pride Committee, 2 years.
  • Community service involving singing for seniors with aggressive dementia, 2 years.
  • President of the youth council and social media director on the federal campaign for my Member of Parliament.
  • Internship at a renowned criminal law firm, ended with a glowing recommendation from my boss.

Awards at time of graduation:

  • First class honours with distinction, 4 years.
  • Debating and Public Speaking award at my school.
  • First place in Impromptu Speaking at the Canadian National Public Speaking Championships.

ACT of 30 is really low for ivies even if you get that high, try for at least a 32. I wouldn’t mention that you were in mock trial and that it got cancelled since the AO would see that and see you didn’t have initiative to keep it open.

I would definitely add 1 safety to your list (not sure about the UK schools) if you want to attend school in the US.

For all the US schools except George Washington, they are very competitive and your stats only earn you a slim chance at the crapshoot. For yale, brown, and these colleges, it doesn’t really seem as if any of your resume stats stand out, which is why.
Work hard and I’m sure you can get into any of these schools.
