Or you could do what Thumper Daughter did. She was a state ranked player on her instrument and wanted to play in the college orchestra. She contacted music department chairs, orchestra directors and applied faculty on her instrument to find out what opportunities were available for someone NOT majoring in music. These folks were VERY helpful everywhere she sent emails or called. In several cases, she was also told she could schedule a lesson with the applied instrument teacher which she did everywhere she applied. When visiting, she also scheduled time to talk to the orchestra director and music department chair while she was there.
