I’d probably consider it a match (but perhaps a high one); your SAT score is a bit low for the school, but you have some pretty strong extracurriculars.
Bump up your SAT into the 1450+ range and you will be a good candidate for UCB. You have some great EC’s so really emphasize them in your personal insight essays.
Freshman admit rates for UC GPA of 4.20 or above:
UCB: 42%
Your unweighted GPA is 3.8, don’t kinow how you get such a high weighted. I think the unweighted is more telling because everyone has their own formula for weighting and there are as many formulas as there are applicants. UCB and UCLA are a reach for everyone. Come from that perspective and work on other aspects of the app.
@preppedparent: UC’s have their own GPA calculation. You get extra honors points for UC approved Honors/AP/IB courses. UC capped weighted is a maximum of 8 points. UCB also considers fully weighted with unlimted honors points so it can be as high as posted by OP.
I would really work on your essays - they have been the make or break part of many a Cal hopeful’s app. You have a lot of interesting EC’s and life experience to draw from. Give them something different and interesting to read.
Thank you, @Undercrackers . Of what I have listed, is there anything particular that you found to be the most interesting? Would love to get an “outside” opinion on this aspect.
