Unfortunately the merit for in state schools is not great. Our flagship and in state school
Focus on need based for in state. Not significant amount of merit aid for instead .
Cheapest school is Stockton st $30K offering $9k but crappy school

We just heard from CofC and she got into honors as well. Automatic merit is $13,500 a year but they say they give $ for honors as well so if it’s on top of $13,500 we should be in ok shape.
Still waiting on Indiana.
She is actually planning to apply to TCNJ as well. But Rutgers is not know for merit $ for I state especially since nursing is so competitive here.
List based on schools she liked. We’ve seen quite a few. Places that we heard gave merit. Honestly she applied to schools that for most part are decent schools but safety schools in hopes that her grades and high standing would get her more than at say a target school where her grades leave her in middle of pack.
UT I think is a non starter. Not sure why she threw it on there and I didn’t fight it. FSU if she gets in and can get a little bit of $ might be best option because price is lower than you would expect.
Will look into Hendrix.
They aren’t good. 1190 superscore
Not a lot of direct entry nursing programs choices that fit ino our criteria. So she will have to apply as a sophomore for nursing program
Congratulations on CoC honors, it’s a great option.
PA has lots of direct entry nursing programs. Not sure about the deadlines for scholarships but look into PASSHE schools (public university system), they have a common website and may indicate where there’s direct entry nursing. York college also does.
Suny Plattsburgh has decent scholarships and overall the SUNY system is solid for relatively low oos costs but I don’t know if they have
UMaine has a flagship cost match and merit scholarships. Look into USouthern Maine?
Congrats to your daughter for CoC honors and other schools she got accepted so far.
The cost for colleges is outrageous high , especially for OOS or private colleges. Fortunately , there are merit aids and need aids to bring it down somewhat. Your daughter has a decent list of school to apply, and I am sure she will choose the one that fit and most “affordable”. If she decides to go to OOS school, you will have to add on the cost of travel (for her and sometimes for your family), health insurance if her health insurance doesn’t cover OOS, and miscellaneous items …
We were in the same boat as you when our oldest daughter applied to college 3 years ago and she ended up in our in-state school. It was cheapest, in term of total cost compare to other schools she applied and accepted to.
If nursing is the priority, then consider:
If she’s interested in Kentucky, she should consider U of Louisville. She qualifies for this award as a NJ resident, which should get her in-state tuition, or close to it. This will probably meet your budget. I know people who did the honors program and loved it. It has a med school, so all the nursing/med stuff is solid. It’s direct entry. Last year, their admissions and honors decision turnaround was super-fast.
I think you should place a premium on direct-entry programs. I say this as someone who has taught freshman nursing students. Your kid will likely be fine regardless, but that uncertainty can be SO stressful when nursing school is hard enough as it is.
Rutgers NB and seton hall will not come down that low, she won’t get merit from Rutgers, seton hall with merit should come down to Rutgers, but it will cost closer to $30,000.
Lol I was going to suggest Stockton, they offered my son $10,000 in 2021 with an uw 3.7 30 act. I think Montclair tops out at $5000. I think TCNJ has started offering some merit to in state students (very small), but NJ colleges seem to like test scores (even my 2021 HS graduates were able to take tests during Covid even with cancellations).
