I applied to McCombs in October and I’m super anxious because my application is still in review. Here are my stats:
- Texas Resident
- South asian female
- Within the top 25 percent
- 4.9/5 Weighted
- 11 AP classes
- SAT: 2040
ECs:
- Business Professionals of America (advanced to nationals sophomore and junior year, currently a club officer)
- MUN
- Junior World Affairs Council
- NHS
- two business related internships
- Indian classical dance
- Hospital volunteer and research assistant
- Employed at a math and reading tutoring center
- Submitted a letter of recommendation from my BPA sponsor
Everything looks good but is the top 25% referring to your class rank? That’s strange considering you gpa
@pieguy321 I’m not sure my exact rank, I’m not in the top 10 percent but when I applied to A&m, they told me I was in the top 25 percent.
From what I’ve heard, UT takes class rank as very important. Below top 15% may be pretty tough to get in, especially with McCombs. Having said this, your SAT is good, your EC are good and your course rigor(11 APs) is impressive. I believe you have a good shot of getting in.
I also applied to UT and I wish you luck with getting accepted
Btw, what’s your major?
@GreenTeaFanatic thank you! I applied for unspecified business! Are you still waiting on a decision?
Yep, still waiting. I also applied in October, but we get a decision in March. March seems so far away…
@GreenTeaFanatic oh wow! there’s no February wave?
Apparently not! A rep from UT came to my school in September and told us that all applicants who didn’t fit the criteria for auto-admit will get a decision in mid-March.
@GreenTeaFanatic that’s so far away omg… are you a texas resident?
Yep, i’m from Texas. Which is good, because I hear it’s more difficult for Out-Of-States students to get admitted
@GreenTeaFanatic it sucks though bc we applied so early and we are in state and we still haven’t heard back
It does suck :(( We’ve been waiting for so long. I’m a tad bit jealous of those people who have auto-admission.
