<p>I am a HS junior -
SAT 620CR / 680m (retaking May)
GPA uw 3.5 (mainly honors/AP but schol doesn’t do GPA so I don’t know how it would be calculated)</p>
<p>Passion form equality - Lots of advocacy and community service - documentary film for nonprofit marketing about 3rd world program, advocate for marriage equality including testifying in state courthouse.</p>
<p>Extracurriculars - Model Congress, Princeton course on International Human Rights, school gay rights club</p>
<p>Talent - art (although don’t want to major - but I will have a strong photography supplement)</p>
<p>My grades aren’t what they could be but I would interview strongly!?</p>
<p>Is there any hope of the above colleges?

<p>I was thinking of Connecticut College, Bard (great photography), Macalester, Earlham.
How far a reach are the ones above? And what would be the best way to present the advocacy and documentary film to help my application? I feel I have had “real world” experience that represent me better than my numbers.

<p>SATs are a bit low for all of the schools you originally listed. Try to get them more in the 700s range. Your ECs are good and show a focus, but maybe start looking for more to do. Leadership positions certainly wouldn’t hurt.
Maybe consider incorporating the documentary into one of your essays, whether it be on the common app or in a supplement.
As far as your safeties–I’m only familiar with Earlham, and I’d say it’s definitely a match.</p>
<p>I’m no expert by any means, but we were always told go for three reaches, three middle of the road and 3 safeties…Look at the scattergrams offered on websites. I would back up and look at your interests, you sound like someone who wants to make a difference, and may want a strong GSA/LGBT presence? Look at colleges that change lives website and book…the quaker schools earlham, haverford, guilford and such…and maybe UNC CH? If your school has naviance, that is pretty helpful.</p>
