SCHOOLS (We are both planning to apply to the same schools):

  3. UC Irvine- Computer Science and Engineering
  4. UCSB- Electrical Engineering
  5. Georgia Tech (EA)- Electrical Engineering
  6. Cornell (ED)- Electrical Engineering
  7. WUSTL- Mechanical Engineering
  8. Duke- Electrical Engineering (ED???)
  9. Purdue- Electrical Engineering

Basically wondering chances for each. I WILL CHANCE BACK! Would Cornell ED have more chances or Duke?

It’s hard to gauge without knowing what boxes are being checked:

  • state
  • URM
  • First Gen
  • Legacy
  • Pell Grant
  • Fin Aid
  • Full Pay
  • Ethnicity
  • Gender
  • Major

@ClarinetDad16 Sorry about that! I have filled in the missing info, and the majors are the very bottom, we are applying to the same schools and majors because we have similar interests!

Chances anyone? will chance back

Anyone?O.o

Honestly it is rather silly to compare yourself against someone’s else chances especially if that someone else is your “friend”! You should care about your own chances…or if you care about your friend, ask for his chances…not how you do “VS.” him!

What a fake friend you are lol.

You should verify with your friend that you have all of his info. If you’re just going off what you think you know about him, this will be an even less accurate indicator of his chances.

And you should separate honors from extracurriculars, lol. Your ECs are:

Various leadership clubs (including the leadership team for taekwondo)
Poomsae team for taekwondo
Taekwondo instructor (you listed this one twice)
Intern at SSA Office
Intern at major Aerospace company
COSMOS UC CAMP
300+ Community service hours

@Crystal9ucla @Iamsobusynow Sorry… I did not mean it to come off like that… We are friends and in fact he wanted me to post both our chances together… I should have reworded it to be Chance me and my friend. Sorry.

@OnMyWay2013 This is accurate info, as he made this template for me and filled in his stats.

Guys please chance. Thanks

@TimforCS I am glad to hear that from you, and I believe you. I know you kids have rough time trying to get accepted to collage. Good luck to you and your friend.

I have no clue about the averages for your major but I think, in general, your gpa is a too low for Cornell, Duke, WUSTL, and just maybe USC. For your friend, Cornell, Duke, WUSTL don’t seem too realistic either considering he barely took any AP classes. It sucks being Asian (I know because I am Asian myself) because there are just so many of us who score near perfect SAT’s and have 4.5+ gpas. We have to compete against each other for the spots in those elite private institutions. There was an older korean guy at my highschool who had a 2300 SAT 4.68 GPA 4th in the whole school (would have been 1st if he didn’t take marching band and wind ensemble for all 4 years). Dude got all A’s and had 5’s on every one of his 12 AP tests and even for the one he didn’t even take a class for. He was the drum major and first chair for clarinet and had taekwondo achievements similar to yours. Despite all the crazy academics he had he still got rejected by every single Ivy League. Meanwhile, this white kid who came from South Africa when he was like 9 got into Columbia with a 3 point something gpa but a perfect SAT. I think he said in his application that he was African because technically he is lmao. The Korean dude did get a full ride to USC and transfered to UPenn after a year but the point is Ivy caliber universities are extremely unrealistic and unpredictable because there are just so many applicants who are well more qualified than you are. However I’m pretty sure you and your friend can get into those UC’s tho. Have you seen the ethnicity percentages? Asians are like the biggest group since it is a state school lol.
