Chance me -- waiting anxiously

I want to know my chances of getting into Colege Park, my stats are:

White female
In-State

SAT: CR=670
Math=640
GPA: unweighted is 3.23
weighted is 3.7
Extracurricular: *Played tennis and soccer
*Have good charity work – led and organized various fairs for the mentally disabled/ neonatal intensive care unit - along with other things
*Have won a ton of awards for my painting and photography - don’t feel like listing

  • am in National arts honor society
    *and did Mica Pre-college
---- and some other things but those are the highlights

All of my classes have been either G/T or AP and my letter of recommendations put me in a very good light. My mom is an alumni.
And to account for my low GPA: My counselor mentioned extenuating circumstances during 9th/10th grade years. And in application I elaborated - explaining my mothers debilitating/undiagnosed illness.

And my junior year I got a B in Physics G/T but A’s in all my other classes
And senior 1st quarter I got 1 B in Calc G/T with A’s in all the others

Please Chance :)

I don’t think there’s any question…you should be in, with no problem. The GPA may keep you out of an initial invite to any special programs or merit $$, but in terms of acceptance, I don’t see any issues?? Congrats for all the arts awards…are you going to major in something art-related?

No, I’m planning on double majoring in psychology and criminology and criminal justice. The art was to help me get in – but since MD doesn’t allow a portfolio submission it was kind of moot. I did base my essay around it though.

Since you aren’t applying to a LEP, the GPA won’t impact that either. Good luck!

thanks
anyone else have the same or different opinion?

No doubt you are in!

ahhh
thank you!
I’ve been like biting my nails off – its my first choice and i didnt know if my gpa would mess up my chances
but if anyone else thinks i dont have a chance can you respond with your opinion
