Also, During my freshman and sophomore years my school performance was very poor. I received a ‘D’ in a foreign language course. I don’t have any excuses for it. But there has been a major upward trend in my grades, as I have received all A’s in Junior year and so far this year (w/ the exception of one B).

Chance me for:

UC Santa Barbara (my top pick, as their college of creative studies program is very appealing to me)
UC San Diego
UCLA
Caltech
Harvey Mudd
Stanford
CSUN (safety)

Thanks! I’ll chance back!

You may want to recalculate your GPA for the UC’s using the UC GPA formula. Congratulations on your GPA improvement this year! I’d say you are a match at UCSB, your top choice, high match at UCSD. UCLA is a low reach, and Cal Tech, HMU, and Stanford are mid (Mudd) to high reaches (Cal Tech and Stanford). Go the the link below and click on “Custom Tables”. Answer some questions on a handful of pages, and enter up to 3 “mean characteristics” to see what the “admit rate” is at all the UC’s:

UCSB: Match
UCSD: Match
UCLA: Low Reach
Cal Tech: High Reach
Mudd: Reach
Stanford: High Reach

Matches, low reaches, expect for Stanford, your gpa is more concerning part of your application.
It will drastically decrease your chances, however, your sat is impressive.

good luck!

Bump
Filler

I would say you have a good chance at getting into all of these colleges. The highest reach would probably be CalTech and Stanford, but you have a good shot at the rest. Did you hear back from any of the colleges yet?
