Chance Me

let me start of by saying i am not “fishing for compliments” or anything like that. This is a legitimate question. I currently have a score of approx 2280-2320 (depending on the curve). My GPA is around 3.65 UW and 4.0 Weighted. Im in the top 18% at my school (which is somewhat competitive, but my grades arent amazing either). I’d say my ECs are average to above average. Based on this profile, should I retake a 2280-2290 just to cross the 2300 threshold? Any input would be helpful.

SAT: 720 (CR)/790 (W)/780(M)
These are some schools I want to apply to:

Vandy

Emory

University of Michigan

BS/MD with Case Western

BS/MD with UMiami

You already have an excellent SAT Reasoning score and since you’re predicting only a modest improvement, there is really no point in you re-taking the exam. In this case, your acceptance/rejection to any of those schools will not be because you had a 2280 and not a 2320.

Instead, you can always think about investing some time into the ACTs or SAT IIs, to best communicate that you are still a very academically competent applicant despite your weak GPA/rank.
