By the way, my school only offers six AP classes. By the time I will have graduated, I will have taken three to four of those AP classes. Plus, I did my volunteer work at the hospitol, teaching kids at a middle school with their science homework, and I worked as a TA in a biology classroom. Will that help show my passion for science in my essay and help get me in?

Unfortunately, I would say that it is a long shot.

I say this because while your stats are good, based upon everything I have read about UC, almost everyone applying will have equal or better stats

A lot of super brains apply to UC.

I would take the ACT again. My son raised his ACT from a 31 to a 34 with zero studying.

My son is applying to UC, has a similar GPA, and he has a 34 ACT, and while he would love to go to UC, he is not really expecting to me admitted.

I would say that you have a better shot at the University of Michigan, for example, than UC

That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t apply though.

I’d concur with floridadad55 - retake your ACT if you can to at least a 33. But also keep in mind that essays are a crucial part of the admissions process, I know people say that time and time again but it’s especially true at the UofC - best of luck with your application and to floridadad55’s son

Thanks for the insight, guys! I do agree with floridadad55 that I may have a hard time getting in since everyone applying probably has same or better stats; however, I have heard that the essay plays a HUGE role. I could probably turn my essay into how I have done so much volunteering in science-related areas, and use that to show some type of passion.
