Hi, I was just wondering if I had any chance of getting into the Ivy Leagues.

I have a 4.0 and am completing the IB Diploma, which is the most rigorous course load at my school.

I am president of NHS.

I am copy editor for my school newspaper which is nationally recognized.

I am a member of the Roots and Shoots Club.

I started the Quidditch Club at my school.

I am on JV soccer and Varsity lacrosse and have a chance of being captain next year.

I have won some writing contests including the regional Scholastic contest.

I volunteered for 30+ hours this summer working with kids from troubled backgrounds.

I will most likely attend a summer leadership camp hosted by a top college.

I play saxophone in the school band.

I got a 31 on the ACT, but I am retaking it this spring.

Do I have a chance of getting into Ivy League schools? Thanks so much!

I usually refrain from commenting on chance threads, but…

Do you realize that 2016 applicants are less than two days away from hearing their Harvard admissions decisions? Not that we’re all as crotchety as I am, but come on, really? You couldn’t have waited for a couple of days to post this nonsense? For what it’s worth, I believe that the general consensus on CC is that chance threads are useless. Great, you can get an ego boost, or maybe not. Do your best and be passionate about it; that’ll say more than slapping a 4.0 in front of us; in fact, probably a good 10%+ of applicants have a 4.0, so not that special.

Good luck with your applications, and I’m sorry that you caught me before the 29th.

Relax, relax AstroPhy, tensions may be running high but it was a harmless question. Yes chancing threads aren’t usually helpful, but it’s a way to get some feedback on things to work on, if nothing else.

OP- Class rank would also be helpful. Your ECs are pretty generic, ACT is a little low assuming you don’t have any hooks. If you’re pretty talented at the sax you should consider doing an arts supplement. You have a chance, sure, but there are hundreds of applicants with similar stats. It’s a big reach I’d say.
