Chance me? :)

4.0 GPA (4.5 weighted)
30 ACT composite
2 Honors classes- Geometry and Algebra 2 (the only ones offered at my school)
Coming from a school with a dual curriculum- have a 3.98 GPA in Judaic Studies
Top 10% (even though my school doesn’t give rankings, I’m #1 or #2)
Head of Costume Committee and Fundraising Committee
Volunteer for a few hours a week
Diversity- Jewish, Russian heritage, fluent in 3 languages

Are there any good merit scholarships? I plan on majoring in Biology since I’m planning on doing Premed and going to medical school.
I’m also going to need financial aid, my parents make just under $50K together a year.

Any suggestions for where else I should look in to? I live in Michigan and I would prefer being closer to home (but still live on campus).

Hmmm, well you are in state so that helps. Also knowing three languages looks good.

I’m not really sure how you got your weighted GPA, if you only ever took 2 honors classes.

They’ll definitely see that you did as well as you could have even though you got stuck with a very light schedule.

If you in state and have a 4.0 unweighted GPA, you are in. Your ACT score of 30 will suffice.

But you have to look at course rigor. Unless I’m reading this wrong the OP has only ever taken 2 honors courses.

^^UofM will evaluate the rigor based on what was available to the student to take. There is no “penalty” for applying if the high school does not offer AP or IB classes. The OP can absolutely ask his high school’s guidance counselor how other kids with similar transcripts to the OP have fared in UofM admissions. Remember this is an in-state student odds are it’s not the first time admissions has seen an application from this particular high school.

Thanks for answering. If anyone knows about good merit aid scholarships/ financial aid scholarships that I might be eligible for at U of M, I’d really appreciate it! :)

This sounds a lot like my case. My school offers no AP/Honors classes so I skipped(tested out of) my freshman math class and am now dual enrolling in Calculus I at Central Michigan University to try and make up for the lack of available rigor.
