Enrolled in Humanities and Arts program at school will write a 20 page paper before graduation

Classes:
Spanish 5 (have been taking Spanish for 6 years)

My GPA dropped last year due to the death of a close relative of mine this will be noted in my counselor’s recommendation for college.

What are my chances of getting in and what should I improve? Also will taking stat instead of calc look really bad? I want to go into either chem or bio major at CP which one do you recommend?

You are in good shape for UMD. If you can get your math and CR SAT scores up (you don’t say what they are individually), you may be a candidate for some merit aid (but probably not Banneker/Key)…closer to 700+ the better for each. With your community service, you may be a good candidate for the Scholars program. Good luck…just make sure to meet the priority deadline.

Try to stick with AP Calculus if you can because UMD won’t see your senior grades on your priority application.
