<p>I’m a rising senior from Tennessee hoping to major in Russian Language and Literature and attend on an Air Force ROTC Scholarship. My stats are-
Unweighted GPA- 3.88
ACT Composite- 31
English- 34
Reading- 32
Math- 28
Science- 28
(This is from one test date, if UCLA Superscores I have a 34 in reading and 30 in science which would raise my score)
PSAT- 196
I’ve taken 3 AP classes so far, the only ones my school has offered (European History, English and Composition, and US History). My schedule only allows me to take 2 of the 3 AP classes available my senior year, so I will be taking English and Literature and World History.
I also took the highest level math this semester, Dual Enrollment Precalculus, although I know the credit won’t be transferable.
I’m the Junior Class Treasurer, the National Honor Society Secretary, and am a member of the Beta Club and Key Club.
I’m the battalion commander in my Army JROTC Unit, and was awarded the Sons of the American Revolution Cadet of the Year for Tennessee for the 2013-2014 school year, and will be moving to the national level.
I also received the Military Officers Association of America award.
I attended Volunteer Girls State last week.
I was selected to attend the Naval Academy Summer Seminar which will be held next week.
I participated in my local Distinguished Young Women program where I was awarded runner up, and got scholarships for first place in self expression, runner up in scholastics and interview.
I have volunteered with the local hospital since freshman year and have accumulated over 400 hours.
I coordinated with the Ronald McDonald House to run the Autumn Children’s Festival which resulted in over 500 hours of manpower.
I also coordinated and ran JROTC’s team at this year’s Relay for Life to raise money for the American Cancer Society.
I coordinated with the Soddy Daisy Food Bank to run our annual food drive for JROTC.
I also coordinated with Chattanooga Blood Assurance to run 2 blood drives at Soddy Daisy High School.
I have also accumulated 345 hours of volunteer work through various JROTC activites and 30 hours through the National Honor Society.</p>

<p>I think you have what it takes to get in. I think the ACT score is around the average of what UCLA admits. You might want to retake to try to improve your score, but I think it’s good enough for admission. UCLA does not superscore the sections to my knowledge (at least not on the SAT). Your GPA also sounds good. UCLA should receive a school report from your high school which tells them what AP classes at your school are offered, so you shouldn’t be at a disadvantage compared to people on CC who take 10+ AP classes. In fact, I think the admissions process compares heavily peers from the same high school.</p>

<p>I don’t really know anything about ROTC, but aren’t there some programs that guarantee admission to schools?</p>

<p>Your extracurriculars definitely exceed expectations. It would be helpful if you posted your weighted GPA, but looking at your unweighted, you seem to be in a very good track. Make sure to keep up good grades your senior year, keep up your extracurriculars, and write stellar essays. Other than that, I’m sure you will be fine.</p>
