I would love is someone would chance me into the following schools: FORDHAM, BOSTON COLLEGE, BOSTON UNIVERSITY, NYU, SYRACUSE UNIVERSITY, UCI, UNIVERSITY OF SAN FRANCISCO

I plan on majoring in either Biochemistry, forensic science or genetics.

First generation

*i went to a private catholic high school(like that makes much of a difference)

Ethnicity: middle eastern
*speaks two languages(English and Arabic)

GPA: UW: 4.0
W: 4.7
I’ve maintained an A and A+ average throughout high school taking most honors.

Rank: Top five percent// 5 out of ~150 students

ACT: 31
I plan on only submitting my ACT since I scored much higher on it versus my SAT(which was an 1810 :frowning: )
SAT II: Chemistry 650( yeah I know)

AP:
This year I took AP Chemistry(3)
Next year I’m taking
AP Calculus
AP Biology
AP Government and Econ
AP English

My school does not offer many AP classes until senior year.

AWARDS:
Highest grade in Honors Chemistry, highest grade in Honors French.
I have secured my place as Highest grade in AP chemistry and highest grade in U.S. History and Honors Biology

I also danced ballet for 8 years, although quit mid sophomore year

*I’m currently working on my common app essay. I’m using the prompt to describe my background of being middle eastern and how it affected me and represents me as a whole. I’d love some tips on that.

Please let me know what my matches/reaches are and what I can do to increase my chances.

You’re a match for most, with Syracuse and Fordham being safeties as the person mentioned earlier. I, however, think that NYU is a reach. The ACT score isn’t above average and the EC’s are average but not great. Hope I could help!

Thank you for the comment. I don’t really mind NYU being a reach. But do you think Boston college is a match or reach? BC is my top school Haha

ACT median there is a 29-32, so you’re right above the median. You’re a first generation and a minority. You have a 4.0/4.8. I can’t guarantee that you’ll get in, but I’d definitely say match as opposed to reach.

Fordham: low match
BC/BU: match
NYU: match. Don’t apply if you can’t afford 65k and if you are OOS. I wouldn’t apply even if I were in state because their FA is terrible.
SYRACUSE UNIVERSITY: match
UCI, UNIVERSITY OF SAN FRANCISCO: Safety.

Which state do you live? Unless you can pay full OOS rate, I wouldn’t apply UC schools or NYU,

I’m instate for UC’s. But yeah I’ve been gradually shifting away from NYU, the lack of campus is kind of off putting to me, but I’ll still apply :slight_smile: thanks!

@paul2752 NYU is not a state school, so being in state or out of state is not that important.

Oh sorry. My head must havebeen all jumbled up.
However NYU still has really bad reputation for giving about bad financial aid

Yeah NYU is private so in state and out of state makes no difference but they definitely are notorious for giving crappy financial aid
