I am a Pakistani female from NY (Long Island). I’m worried about my lack of rigorous courses and transcript.

volunteered at a hospital, nursing home, local library, LGBT services, Sunday school (where I teach arabic and urdu, editor for the newspaper, organized events such as interfaith dialogues), synagogue + church, and I volunteered in Nepal, and India over the summer
-had an internship with a business company, and one with my county’s legislative
-did research in science
-taught english in pakistan
-I attend NYC protests whenever I can about regarding issues I am passionate about
-I’ve done karate for 10 years
-I’ve danced for 8 years and I also assisted my teacher in choreographing for tween classes
-fluent in english, spanish, arabic, urdu, hebrew

Essay: Outstanding (based on my interest for social justice and interfaith)
Recommendations: excellent (chem teacher, english teacher, and spanish teacher)
Not requesting financial aid.

This is a tough one bc umich definitely weights GPA and course rigor higher than anything else that they consider. But everything else seems to be very good. I would you’re a slight match.

GPA and course rigor are considered the most important factors while test scores are important. In your case, your GPA is rather low and your course rigor is not strong either. If these are due to your school’s grading system and limited resources, that would be fine. Otherwise, they would hurt your chance a lot. Your ACT is above admission average for LSA but right at the average for CoE. SAT2 are not required at UMich although great scores would help. Assuming you have great essays, your chance from OOS would be low reach to reach depending on your intended major.

@collegegirls813 Until a few years ago, UMich only has rolling admissions. Now only RD is rolling.

No. It’s not rolling. They will be releasing decisions around mext weekend.
