This is a update from my previous post (SAT score with my extra curriculars)
I wanted to know my chances for getting accepted as a biochem major at the following universities: UT Austin, NYU, UCLA, University of Michigan, Washington University in St. Louis
Class Rank: 80/670 (Top 12%)-Very competitive public high school
SAT: 2110
Extra Cirriculars: Shift Leader for Hospital Volunteering Program, Director of Community Service at Church, school’s science bowl secretary.
4 years of being in the top orchestra at my school, and playing tennis in a state recognized organization
Few awards in science fairs throughout high school.
My class rank will probably go up a little by the time I apply since I am still a junior. Any feedback would be appreciated, thanks!
You need to increase your SAT to at least a 2200, preferably 2250. At that point, provided that you can crack the top 10% ranking in your class, UT Austin and University of Michigan should be quite achievable, NYU should be possible, and WUSTL and UCLA should be reaches (but not by much, especially UCLA).
The only issue with WUSTL revolves around its obsession with high test scores; as I said, a 2250 would make all the difference in the world.
Your SAT is a little low and can you provide your GPA? Your extracurriculars are amazing. Rank is good. Work hard on SATs and I think you have a high chance on all of your schools.
In order from most to least likely, I’d say:
UT- probably
UCLA- very possible
NYU- possible
UM- probably not
WUSL- probably not
Again, your chances will probably only go up with a little work. Good luck! Chance back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1854384-chance-me-for-these-colleges-p1.html
