Chance me!

Hi everyone! I’m almost done applying to colleges and the waiting is killing me! My two top choices are OSU and UIUC and I feel like I will get into OSU (in-state), but I have this massive fear I will get rejected. I know there isn’t anyone who can give me a definite “Yes” or “No, you won’t get in”, but I was just curious to see how I stack up!

Colleges Applying to: Ohio State (first choice, applied EA), UIUC (second choice applied EA), University of Florida (3rd, applied EA), University of Alabama (Back up), thinking about IU/Bloomington (Back up), and University of Cincinnati (literally my last resort haha!) and a couple more

Hope to major in: Exercise Science/Human Nutrition (OSU) or Kinesiology/Dietetics (UIUC), something along these lines at the other schools I’m applying to

UW GPA: 3.8
Weighted: 4.131
Rank: 18/173
Top 10% of class
ACT Comp: 28
ACT Eng: 33
ACT Read: 34
ACT Math: 22 (I know, not ideal, but the majors I’m going for aren’t HEAVILY math related so I’m pretty content with this)
ACT Writing: 29
ACT Science: 27

Freshman Year: All Honors courses (Biology, American History, English, Spanish, etc.); I had one B+ this year, the rest were A’s and A+'s

-Sophomore Year: All honors + 1 AP course (first time sophomores are my school were allowed to take an AP course); had all A’s this year
-AP Human Geography: scored a 5 on the exam

-Junior Year: Full-time dual enrollment student at the University of Cincinnati. Took a total of ten classes and earned 30 college credits. Dean’s List for both Fall and Spring Semester (College Cum. GPA is a 3.6)

-Senior Year: Full-time dual enrollment student. Expect to finish off this year with a total 60-65 credits (College Cum. GPA is a 3.6)

-Teacher Recs: (I know UIUC doesn’t consider them.) Otherwise, should be pretty excellent

-Essays: I’ve always been pretty good at writing papers and essays so I’m pretty confident about these!

ECs
-3 years varsity soccer

-3 years varsity basketball (Captain this year)

-Youth Basketball Summer Camp Counselor for 4 years (I coached K through 3rd grade on the fundamentals of basketball such as form, shooting, etc. while also showing them how to have fun and taught the basics of teamwork and cooperation. I love basketball and kids so this has by far been the best thing I have ever participated in!)

-Horticulturalist Assistant at my local zoo for 1 year (tried it out, but realized it just was not for me! I worked to help upkeep the zoo grounds)

-American Red Cross Volunteer

-Part-time job (I work about 17 to 25 hours a week to help support myself and my family, Employee of the Month a couple times)

-Foreign Language Club (FLC was stagnant for a couple years and so this year we are focusing on bringing it back! FLC works to educate others in the community on how important other cultures and languages are, while also helping its members become more acquainted with different people. For example, I’ve become friends with a girl from Russia, which blows me away. I love FLC!!)

-This past April I applied for a program called Questbridge, which connects low-income, high-achieving students with some of the nation’s top schools such as MIT, Yale, Duke, etc. I was accepted and become a Questbridge College Prep Scholar! Out of about 9,000 applications only around 3,000 were accepted so I was very excited! I attended a conference at Northwestern University and met other scholars from all around the country. Here is the organization link if anyone is curious! https://www.questbridge.org/

-Plan to apply for NHS this year

-Clermont County Athlete of the Week (October of 11th grade for soccer)
-Numerous excellence awards in World History, AP Human Geography, English, Spanish, etc.

Other Info:

*I may have accidentally posted this is the UIUC thread but I have no idea how to fix it now!

I appreciate anyone taking the time to look at this! I’m very nervous and will be until November (OSU decisions start coming back then).

Hi! I am applying to Questbridge and I was wondering if you have any tips?
