Hi ezverev. It hard to know without taking the SAT? Your first choice schools seem pretty reachable, but since they are all so selective, you really can’t be sure. You mentioned that you swim. Are you planning to do swimming on a varsity level in college? The GPA might be a little low but from what I can see, you can make it work. Hope it works out in the end.

Come back and update once you have your SAT score and finish out your Junior year. A lot can happen between now and college application season.

Yes, I plan on swimming in college

is tufts comp sci good, just asking out of curiosity

its like #50 in the U.S, so it’s not bad. Although, my dad went there and you can take a lot of classes at MIT and Harvard when you’re at Tufts.

Your shot at all these schools is solid. Keep up the high level of swimming, keep the GPA high, and score well on the SAT and you will be golden to get into the high reaches. Certainly start filling out recruiting forms and contacting coaches, though you’re already on their radar probably.

I think it’s important to stay involved with extracurriculars, but your swimming is going to be your standout stuff.

Also, top 10 in the state is excellent, but as you probably know, some states are a lot more competitive than others.

I live in Washington, and its the 4th most competitive behind the following in order: California, Florida, Ohio.

@ezverev That is no longer true. Tufts has cross registration agreements with Boston College, Boston University, and Brandeis University. Getting the chance to cross enroll and have credits transfer from any other university, including MIT and Harvard, is very difficult to accomplish nowadays. I would be surprised if a kid could get the opportunity to take one class at Harvard or MIT while at Tufts, let alone “a lot”.

oh, I was unaware of that, when my dad went there he took almost all his classes at Harvard
