chance me?

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=294655</a> <–My EC and a problem that might hinder my app.

The ECs look great. I think grades, especially internationally, are read exclusively in comparison with the rest of your school. 70% (C- average) in the US would give you a very slim chance of getting in, but a chance, but if grading policies put that closer to a B average, that is acceptable if you have a good app.

I think by far the most important thing though is not making your application a glorification of your ECs (though they are good enough that it might make sense) - make it very clear what about UofC interests you and you have a good shot.

Also - if you have any choice in the matter - what classes are you taking? Are they among the hardest your school/district offers? That makes a huge difference.

Ubuntu is cool. I envy you.

Good luck on the tests, they don’t matter as much though.

Good things

kodama yeah they are the most difficult courses that my state can offer. And they are not C i guess they are to the max B, if i get my transcripts verified by WES they are going to give them all A cos for them above 65 is A…lol… I am taking :

  1. Math
    2.Phy
    3.Chem (org and inorganic both)
    4.Computers(Programming Languages)
    5.English

Just wondering why doesnt the test matter? My full list of ECs are as follows:

Well, you obviously don’t sleep, so you would be a good fit.

The big question is - are you (as an international) applying for financial aid?

Yes I will be applying for financial aid.

financial aid??..hmmmm i don’t know ajayc…

well if i dont get finance i think i will take loans and work

no i’m not talking about that…

like i think it will be harder for u to get into uchicago if u applied for financial aid as an internatial student

i’m not sure tho

but i think that’s why ohio_mom said “The big question is -…”

hmm yeah… i understand as it is my top priority is Embry Riddle :)

ahhhh i see

ajayc,
you look like a wonderful student and interesting person. The combination of the very technical and the very humanistic on your list of EC’s is excellent - shows that you are comfortable in very different settings.
The kicker, at most US universities, it the derth of aid for internationals. You have a very strong profile - and if your essays are good I thing you have a shot. I see that you have also applied to Princeton; what other schools are on your list?

Ohh’s and ahh’s at the fact you got ohio_mom’s approval.

Well, I do think he sounds like a cool kid, DannonWater. Besides the Linux stuff, there is also ball badminton. What is ball badminton?

Anyway, he doesn’t apply till this fall, and he can come up with a good list schools. I would strongly recommend adding Brandeis and URochester to Chicago, Princeton, and the like. These two schools came through for some of our CC international applicants when others didn’t.

Any time when something makes an application chancy (in this case, the combination of financial need and international status), you probably want to cast a wider net than normally. Absolutely shoot for the top, but make sure you have a solid list of schools to back that up.

No need to defend you opinion. I think highly of your approval.

Ah, shucks…

ah thanks ohio_mom I will try my best for the essays. Well the colleges on my list according to their prority are as follows:

Embry Riddle Aeronautical University

Purdue University/Princeton

University of Chicago

University of Texas Austin

And a few others!
As of now I am now I am concentrating on my SAT.
Cheers!

ajayc -

Embry Riddle has rolling admissions. The most money will be available early in the cycle. It is going to be VERY important for you to get your application ASAP this fall.

Here is a list of consortia that ER belongs to. In addition to your current list of schools, I strongly suggest that you wade through this list (during breaks from SAT prepping, LOL) and look at the finaid information for internationals.
