I am taking 4 AP courses this year: Chinese, Microeconomics, Statistics, and English Language</p>

<p>Previous AP scores: Lit: 3, Euro:3, US: 4</p>

<p>All my classes have either been AP or Honors. I have taken Chinese all 4 years of high school, and am a member of the National Chinese Honor Society as well as an AP Scholar.</p>

<p>I have been published in local literary magazines, school literary magazines, as well as on a web page associated with NPR. I work 10 hours a week as an editor at a literary magazine that is used as a teaching tool in inner-city schools. At this magazine, I proposed a new section and had to persuade the editorial board to give me a page allowance (which is harder than it sounds).</p>

<p>I am an editorial columnist on my school’s paper and last year (first year I was involved with my school’s newspaper) I won 3rd place in reviews from the Illinois Women’s Press Association.</p>

<p>I am publishing a small compilation of work through a small publishing house here in Chicago this November.</p>

<p>I am learning to play the bagpipes with a local pipe band.</p>

<p>I have also already scheduled an interview with an alum that is coming up in November.</p>

<p>depends on the major you are applying for. I spoke with the dean of the engineering school and he said that no one in the class of 2012 was out of the top 5% of their class and the avg SAT was 1450. sounds to me like you will be applying to the college of arts and sciences though?</p>

<p>I’d say you have a very good chance , and being part Hispanic will greatly increase your chances.</p>
