I’ve always dreamed of going to Stanford, can you tell me what my chances are of getting in?

whoah! you know, stanford is really wierd with the acceptance process. They have a knack for refusing some of the best and brightest. As long as you can express yourself as someone with intellectual vitality (not merely one who battles for every percentage point) I think you’ll be fine.

Well, when it comes to Stanford, I don’t think anyone has a “chance” of getting in. SO many qualified, intelligent people ( like yourself ) apply and they only have so many spaces, that they can be very random in admissions. I’m not saying you won’t get in, but I’d recommend that you do something to give back to the community. Perhaps tutoring students that aren’t college bound or starting a free ACT/SAT prep program. It shows you’re compassionate, and Stanford loves that. Good luck with everything!

you’re an amazing applicant on paper. however, stanford is a freak. they won’t accept you with those numbers. you had better have some AMAZING essays… in the end, that’s all that matters. the essays is what it comes down to and if yours aren’t eye-popping or strong, you won’t get in. go ahead and look at the SCEA decisions list and look at the kids who got rejected outright… lots like you. make sure you stand out in the crowd of perfect applicants.

i have a feeling this guy is a fraud.
and im very sorry if you aren’t, but there are plenty of people on CC who make up “perfect” stats and tell people to chance them.

Ur scores make you meet the criteria but its really how you presented yourself especially on the intellectual vitallity essay. Im still wondering how tf its possible to get a 4.9. I wouldnt be to sure of myself but if ur app was good id say a 60% chance

I definitely agree with everyone that said Stanford doesn’t always take those who look amazing on paper. there was a student a year ahead of me with all 800 on SAT II with almost a 2400 on SATS perfect ACT, perfect 5.0 (w) gpa, TONS of community service, president of MUN KEY CLUB NHS ACA DECA, lived in SPAIN, researched and Published lab work relating to cancer, won the CALI governors awards from Arnold S. himself, got into YALE and waiting listed HARVARD, … and of course got denied from stanford, while two other classmates who were much LESS qualified were admitted (they were of minority race).
