Chance Me?

So, Stanford is really a reach school for me. But it’s my dream school.

Gender: Female

Ethnicity: Well… Irish and Latina (Brazilian). But I’m a dual citizen; US and Brazil.

Class Rank: Definitely top 10%, possibly top 5%.

Class Size: Around 200.

Class Levels: My school only offers 5 APs. I’ve taken 3, two of which are English, my intended Major field. I got a 4 on AP Lit.

And the other two were Math and Economics. Nooo interest.

SAT Is:
Math-640
CR-680
Writing-690.

SAT IIs:
Lit-650
Spanish w. List.: 760

GPA: Well, about 3.85. I don’t know about the weighted or unweighted averages…

EC: Swim Team. Average rankings in meets.
International Club
Piano Lessons… since I was 7.
Literary Magazine- several published works, and this year I’m an Editor.
National Honor Society - Just joined last month (I didn’t join the school in time to be a member last year)

So, yeah, I know, not that impressive. I would never think of applying to Stanford if it was just that.

The thing is, I’ve got these really weird circumstances. I’ve only lived 6 yrs (put together, because I constantly move, for family reasons) in US, and I only came to study High School here halfway through Junior yr. So, I did really well with APs in English, despite not having studied in the US since 7th grade. And I was chosen as an editor for the school magazine after knowing the teacher for 6 months. I speak fluent Portuguese, and fluent English, and since I know Portuguese, Spanish is rediculously easy. I got a 760 on the SAT II after 5 months of classes.

My grades in Brazil were all As. Although the system is really different, I have a letter from my former principal explaining the situation. My essays are mostly about my experiences moving, the diversity I’ve seen, the poverty, having to live away from my parents for a year, to come here and study in high school…

My American High school career adds up to… just about a year. That’s it. I have really good recommendations, I know for sure, and I got help from my English Major Uncle on my essays. I think those are pretty good too.

So, I have no idea what to think. Even if my circumstances make me really interesting and excuse my un-extraordinary stats. I still think Stanford’s reach…

Help?

lol shes not an international by any means.

thanks

no, I’m definitely not international. I might have trouble with a public school, 'cause they have requirements of 2 years minimum of HS, but not at a private.

Oh, and I figured out the GPA thing. Unofficially. What I have is an estimate of an unweighted average. Weighted, I’d have a 4.0 or more.
