Chance me?

<p>Applying for class of 2014 RD, guidance counselor tells me I have no chance, what do you think?</p>

APs taken: Biology, European History, AP Calculus, AP Statistics, AP Physics B</p>

  • Indoor Track (2 yrs)
  • Tennis Varsity (1 yr)
  • Outdoor Track (1 yr)</p>

  • National Merit Recognition
  • NCTE Writing Award for Juniors
  • Attended an Advanced Studies Program at a local private school this summer (received awards for superior performance in Astronomy and Writing Workshop)

<p>You are right in the middle of the mix. Perfect GPA, very good SATs, decent amount of APs, very good awards.</p>

<p>I can only assume that you attend a public school, as my son does, and that this “counselor” has tenure. He/she is a boob, just like my son’s “counselor”.</p>

<p>Oh, and when it’s all settled, send a detailed letter to whoever is in charge of the counselors. Let them know that this person tried to quash your dream instead of encouraging you.</p>

<p>Definitely apply. No idea why you’re counselor says you have no chance. You’re right in the middle of the pack, maybe even slightly higher, so RD is a perfectly good decision. </p>
