Chance Me

Out of state (Texas). Attend Clear Lake High School (very competitive). 3.77 out of 4.5 GPA (it’s on the 5.0 scale but my school caps it off at 4.5). SAT: 2060. ACT:30. Lots of ECs. So, what chance do these horrendous stats have?

Thanks!

Thanks!

I think you have a decent chance… the ACT is pretty far off from their mark, so I’d suggest taking it again; you’d be safe with a 32; the EC’s and volunteer work are fantastic, which should help you; Texas is an under-represented region at Duke, which should help; you have a great transcript and solid GPA at a top high school

about 35-40%

just make sure to have really good essays and recs… do the peer rec!

Please chance me!!

For the class of 2013, there were 87 students from Texas (behind only North Carolina, Florida, New York, and California), so I wouldn’t call it under-represented. It’s hard to give you a percentage without class rank, unweighted GPA, and if you’re applied ED or RD. I’d say you in the lower end of the range of competitive applicants (i.e. certainly not an automatic reject, but it’s still a reach school).

thanks guys for your answers. is there anyone else?
