Chance me? :)

Hi! I’m a current senior and I’m applying to these schools:

AP:

Math II 740

Also took some other college level courses in high school as part of a magnet program, including Biochemistry/Cell Physiology (equivalent to Organic Chemistry), Human Anatomy/Physiology (equivalent to Human Anatomy).

Notable accomplishments:
Research project and paper presented during junior year - titled “Aeroelastic Flutter and Piezoelectricity: Applications in Micro-Energy Generation”
Currently taking part in an externship at a local hospital for the duration of senior year

EC:

volunteered at Habitat for Humanity ReStore since November 2009

How do I look? I promise I won’t get all discouraged or anything :)

Edit: I’m applying as a physics major, alternative interests are mathematics and computer science. My essays look pretty good, I’m pretty good at the more creative essays. The focal point for my app is the research paper from junior year.

i mean, academically, i think you’re all set. but what would you contribute to a school where everyone is as academically gifted? did you do anything that you were passionate about, other than studying and school? schools, esp. Stanford, are looking for students that exhibit talent in school but also show interest and talent in other things. Having a ton of running teams, 2 years of varsity on one team doesn’t really seem that impressive…what else do you have to offer?

you obviously have good chances at all the schools, but it really depends on what the colleges are looking for, student-wise. it’s always a crapshoot, pretty much.

In my applications I’m focusing on my research experience and my willingness to take on undergraduate research in college. But you’re right, my EC’s are there but not very impressive, and a lot hinges on whether or not I make Eagle Scout or not (or, well, I won’t before applications end anyway, it’ll be March at the earliest before I get Eagle). My real passions were in fact running and research, so that’s why things look the way they do here.
I’d also like to add that I was (and am) part of a magnet program at my high school called the Medical Sciences Learning Center, which is why a lot of my coursework is college-level anatomy and organic chemistry. my GPA is a 4.79/5.2 and my rank is 15/335…though I know that doesn’t actually say that much about me.
