<p>1) Talked about how my grandparents toiled away on fields of rural China barely harvesting enough food for my family to eat. How my parents came to America in light for an opportunity. First-generation American student.</p>

<p>2)Talked about my visit to China and how it changed the way I looked at life. It showed me the different cultures of America and China. Made me realize I should stop slacking off and seize the opportunities my parents gave to me.</p>

your gpa is below avg. and this can’t be justified if you didn’t take any rigorous courses.
your SAT is about avg., you do have some good EC’s, and your essay topic seems interesting for the reader :slight_smile:

<p>Even though your GPA is fairly low (in comparison to the average UW student) your SAT scores place you right around in the middle of accepted students. This can also been seen on collegeboard with the “Stack me up” / “How do I compare” button. </p>

<p>One question, are you a first generation college student? From your initial post it seems that your parents themselves were not able to go to college. If that is the case then I’m reasonably confident that you will get accepted because UW loves first generation students :slight_smile: If not however, then I’d say you still have a chance of getting accepted due to SAT scores & your essay(s).</p>

<p>I’m a first generation American student. My parents were able to go to college. My grandparents were not able to attain a high school education.</p>

<p>I can see you getting in if you really whore your ECs. Not sure I’d write about your grandparents in China over that. Your GPA is even lower than mine was, though, and your SAT is average.</p>
