Aren’t you a little past HS age?

Sorry it’s for my kid

I think the major issues with UW, as California residents, is that it’s so expensive, as well as their preference for in-state students.

I don’t think they have WUE at UW. It is a public university so they don’t have to give scholarships to anyone.

Is the school affordable?

It’s not the least expensive school on out list, but might be do-able. We have other options with WUE. It’s just not clear to me how much rigor is needed for a non-STEM major. My kid wants to leave CA and has applied to only one CA school but she does have a few where she has already qualified for WUE

What kind of music major does your daughter want? Is she going for auditioned programs? If so, chancing her is impossible.

She is applying into a music performance major, so we understand that the audition should hold a lot of weight. So an admission would primarily depend on audition results? More so than any academics?

If she is applying for music performance, there is no doubt that the audition will be the key thing for her acceptance. Many schools will expect her to reach a certain academic bar, but her audition will be key.

Impossible to chance her because her audition will be compared to the others doing auditions on the same instrument. It’s not possible to predict the strength of the audition pool from one year to the next.

Good luck with her auditions!

Thank you. This all makes sense.

Washington does not use SAT or ACT in admissions.

https://advising.uw.edu/degree-overview/majors/list-of-undergraduate-majors/ indicates that music is a capacity constrained major.

That is not technically true, they do use test scores, but only in a very limited capacity. It could be considered for OP since their’s is high enough.

When is her audition?
