rank 8/542, only one kid from my previous year went to stanford, no one else went above a uc, before that none, the year before that one kid to harvard, so its pretty uncommon. special about me? im a very motivated individual and i do well to adapt to competing in new enivornments, the better the people are at something around me, the more drastically i improve to make my own place within that group. im always on the upcurve i guess you could say competitive but more for benefit of self improvement

Your deffinetly no getting into johns Hopkins. Did you know that if you spell jhu without the s in the app your rejected? Also have you done any research on school? How can you be interested in Columbia and brown??? Two completely deifferent schools. Columbia with it’s strict core and brown with any study. IMO you will not get into any before you do research

So everyone thanks for your well thought out responses. Special case was it? I found this site at the end of my senior year in high school after getting into ALL of those schools I listed earlier. It ultimately came down to choosing between Harvard, Stanford and MIT for me. I chose Stanford - entering my sophomore year this fall. So Morsmordre called it correctly. I did this stupid post because my friend wanted to see how people would “chance” me with different parts of my resume. For the most part this is what I laid out for colleges to choose me on, but I’ve left out details. Among them - family situation. For people who want to say I got in because I’m black - good for you. =) I’m from some city in Orange County. UCI was my lowest safety school and I was originally aiming for UCB as reasonable school to attend; then again, I laid out my life within those essays and talked about the passions that I immersed myself within throughout high school. Could say a lot more to you folks but…

Point is, this chancing doesn’t seem like a good investment time, especially for all the youngsters in high school. Go out and do something you love, work hard and even if you don’t get into schools like the ones I got into, your life is not over (especially you the asians, I know its hard to compete when your applications are so similar even though you are all unique individuals). If you’re as driven as you are now throughout college, you won’t have a problem getting to the grad school you want.

Asian 75 I’m going to assume in high school by the way, as are the bulk of you who responded. You have so much to learn about college and people :/

Well asian75, we do make less than 30k a year for 4 people (since my mom immgrated from Eastern Africa and raised 3 children by herself). You know exactly why I got in. You sure know how to think. Your insightful way of thinking will take you VERY far. I’m sure I’ll see you at Stanford in a couple years. =)

Although I wasn’t able to respond prior to your disclosure of the truth, I would have told you that, with your race and status, you would have been an admit everywhere.
