chance my son, school of education

my junior son is considering NU, and wants to get a secondary ed degree (history/math). gpa 3.9, class rank top 10 of 130 or so. competitive high school with a good track record.

3 year varsity athlete on a competitive tennis team, all conference, etc…

act 31 as a sophomore last year…

does the fact he is interested in being a teacher help his admission chances?

Thoughts are appreciated.

More than the simple fact that he wants to be a teacher, his reasons and aspirations will help his admission chances. During one of the SESP student meetings, we were told that Admissions officers selected applicants who are interested in and passionate about educational reform and community development. Your son could talk about that stuff in his essays.
