Your class rank and SAT scores are prob not enough for Honors or Banneker/Key. You may get some scholarship money, but it will only put a dent in the OOS tuition. You never know until you try, though! Good luck!

My HS doesn’t give us our exact rank, but I’m most likely in the top 5 of a class of 400…would that help at all?

That’s better than 10%, altho I think the main drivers are SAT and GPA first, then they look at all the other stuff. You should have no problem being admitted, but usually (not always) the big money goes to people with higher SAT scores.

astrophysicsmom,
I have seen you reply to so many of these “Chance Me” threads and you seem so knowledgeable. Do you work for UMD Admissions?

no, just hanging around here way too long and seeing what each new class experiences. D1 graduated in May and is now in grad school (not UMD), and D3 is a junior.

astrophysicsmom,
Well I have found your posts very helpful, so Thank You!

Astrophysicsmom offers reliable and insightful information on this forum. UMD should pay her or offer her D2 a discount. :)

Sounds like a great plan to me!!!

Ok I am in such a similar situation! I just joined CC because I saw this thread and got so curious as to what chances I have for UMD Honors College/Scholarship also. So I would appreciate it sooo much if someone could help me out as well! Also, any ideas on other colleges like Georgetown, Johns Hopkins, and maybe even Duke and Yale?
