You seem like a great applicant! Have you talked to the golf coaches at each of the schools?

Welcome. You have a great profile. Golf seems like a strong sport for you. What is your Handicap Index? That is probably a stat I would include, as it tends to be an objective measure.

Hi! Thank you so much for your reply! I have talked to many of the golf coaches in the schools.

Hi! Thank you so much for your reply! My handicap is around 3, and I consistently shoot in the mid to high 70’s.

You are a strong applicant, and you have applied to schools with low acceptance rates. Impossible to chance!

Some of these schools will recruit for golf, and some won’t. If it is meaningful to you, which it appears to be, then I’m not sure Cate and Groton should be on your list.

Deerfield and Loomis actively recruit high level golfers. Deerfield admissions likes athletes that play 2 sports, even if the second sport is at the JV level, so make sure to talk about your other sport interest if you have one.

Also, consider a school that has a simulator or some nearby in town so you can keep sharp over the winter. Andover, Choate, Deerfield, Hotchkiss, L’Ville, and Loomis, among others, can accommodate.

Last point - you could also consider starting BS in 10th grade. You will continue developing your golf game more quickly in VA/Mid-Atlantic during 9th grade than at a boarding school.

Good luck!

Thank you so much!

I will make sure to consider this! Thank you so much for offering me great advice!

I would imagine it is too late to add schools, but Taft has a private golf course abutting their campus that they use (which they own part of or something like that) which is super convenient. They traditionally has quite winning teams it looks like. If you end up (for some reason) looking in future may not be bad to check out. I knew someone who played there awhile back.

(This is assuming you didn’t already rule it out for other reasons:)

I did rule Taft out for multiple reasons, but thank you so much for the advice!

what were the results?

By the way, Hotchkiss has their own private golf course and it is fabulous. I know many great golfers here.

Hello! I was extremely grateful to be admitted to Phillips Andover, Milton, L’ville, and Middlesex. I was waitlisted from the rest of them excluding Cate.

I would most likely commit to Andover!
