Chance or are Computer Posts transparent

Two minutes after criticizing AirFrance and lauding Budapest in separate posts is this forum, I got an email from FlyingBlue, (AirFrance’s frequent flyer program of which I am a member) advertising a sale on AirFrance NYC to Budapest.

Is this chance or do I need to do something to enhance my computer privacy? If I need to do something, please be specific - I’m far from tech savvy. Thanks. I feel like Big Brother is out there…

Wow! Had you recently googled any articles about those topics?

No - definitely had not googled those topics. I also make sure that I am not logged into Gmail or any other account or forum when I’m googling. When I was reading and posting on CC, that was the only site open on my computer.

There are a variety of tools and methods available to help companies mine/monitor social media. Twitter and Facebook are the most commonly tracked. It’s possible but highly unlikely that posts on CC are tracked in That manner, though. I thinks it’s simple coincidence in this case.

In any event, if you’re concerned the best thing to do is use a disposable email account and unique screen names for your social media activities.
