I am planning to apply for the Dean’s Honor Scholarship. Are my rank and test scores too low to even have a shot?

Your rank isn’t too much of an issue because your GPA is perfect (how can there be 28 people ahead of you, lol?), but the test score probably is. Maybe you can take it again before the deadline? Or try the SAT? As long as they have a higher score before they start judging (probably right after the Christmas break), that is what they would use.

Good luck!

My school is super competitive and I have an extra smart class. The kids ahead of me have been taking 5 or more AP classes since sophomore year. I might try the ACT again because I did horrible on the reading the section. Do you know if Tulane superscores the ACT?

I think they do, but I won’t swear to it. I am especially not sure if it makes a difference for the DHS. But, you will probably do as well in the other sections and hopefully improve the reading section. I think Tulane goes more off GPA and rigor of schedule (yours is fine despite those somewhat twisted overachievers in your class) than actual class rank when it comes to the DHS, especially since you could not have done better than straight A’s. So yeah, I think the ACT is the only thing standing in your way right now. Of course, the projects do matter, but it probably won’t overcome that much of a gap in the ACT score. A 33 puts you in the running, and a 34+ gets you right in there with the top candidates.

Alright, thank you!

jake & fc - tulane does not superscore ACT, fyi. I can give you more reason through a pm. And also, it can’t hurt to apply for the DHS, all you have to pay is postage!

Thanks TG. Always meant to ask about that. Sure, go ahead and send me a PM with the reasoning. I assume the same applies to SAT.
