Why would you go to college if you do not know what you want to do?

I don’t think it’s unreasonable to want to go to college without knowing what to major in. Actually, aren’t most incoming college freshman undecided? Kinda the reason why they give you until your winter of sophomore year to declare your major.

Dartmouth (ED), Columbia, Cornell, Brown you have good scores, but keep in mind they are super competitive and you won’t necessarily get in.
Duke, Emory good chance due to legacy.
GA Tech, NYU you have a good chance.

Any safeties? These are all pretty competitive schools that you seem to be a good fit for, but due to the sheer number of applicants, it’s good to aim for a lower-tier school you would be fine with.

@ruetherford thanks! The only safety i have in mind so far is UGA…haven’t really looked at other safeties.

If you attend GT make sure you want to do something in engineering or Tech.

Emory and Duke is going to be easier for you since you are a legacy and have great stats.

Cornell is on the easier ivies, but with a bigger applicant pool

Have you considered Vanderbilt or Boston University?

@em1998 Thanks! yea I have considered Vandy, but not Boston.

@yakisoba if you are thinking about applying to these Ivies, Boston University will be a match/safety school for you. It’s in a great city like Emory, and it’s up north like Dartmouth.

You’re only problem is that you an ORM and fairly typical for an Asian. However, your recs and essays can (and will, I’m sure) show them otherwise. So I predict that you will get into Emory, NYU and GA Tech, and probably 2-3 of the other extremely competitive ones on your list. Best of luck!

@em1998 Thanks again for the wonderful feedback. @ptkid16 I do realize that my extracurriculars seem fairly typical for an Asian…but the thing is, these are the things I truly like to do. Something atypical I would say that I enjoy a lot extracurricular wise is weightlifting, but I don’t really see a way to expand upon that, since it’s more of a hobby.
