FYI: Med school is around $60-80K per year, depending on the program.
My daughter’s roommates were all on loans.
There is no significant “merit” aid for Medical schools.
Everything costs big dollars. Plus, most of my daughter’s classmates took a year off, after undergrad, to study and to get in their volunteer hours. We paid her rent for a year near her university.
You need to make really sure that you understand the finances before you sign up for any school.
Demonstrated need is what the school believes you should pay. It’s not a given that you’ll be covered for all of your expenses.
Edited to add: ED is a really bad idea if you believe that they want to negotiate because they “really” want you. They want your “dollars”. If you can’t afford it, no amount of begging is going to change your savings.
