IF you meet the GPA requirement that is set for the semester you are entering, you officially be in the major.
For example, if ChemE is 3.2 and you are 3.2 or greater, you will get in. Then don’t say “3.2 and then only take the first 500 (or whatever)”. There are also engineering majors that don’t have gpa requirements so kids who struggled freshman/sophomore year may end up there.
Finance (at 3.6 and moving up this year I think) is one of the highest gpa requirements to get into, Engineering is not that high (because some of the freshman year classes are tough, weed-out classes).
